I’ve been tracking cryptids for years, but what I saw last night was unlike anything I’d ever heard about, let alone seen. It was in the remote forests of the Pacific Northwest, miles from the nearest town. The forest was quiet, almost too quiet, like even the animals sensed something unusual nearby.
Around midnight, just as I was about to turn back, I caught sight of a shadow moving between the trees—a figure that didn’t quite match anything I knew. At first, I thought it might be a bear or even a large wolf, but as it stepped into a patch of moonlight, I realized it was something else entirely. It was tall, maybe seven feet, with a body that looked almost humanoid, but the proportions were all wrong. Its arms were longer than its legs, stretching down nearly to the ground, and its skin had a strange, dark sheen, like the bark of wet trees.
The creature’s head was something out of a nightmare. It was elongated, with two narrow, slit-like eyes that glowed a faint green. There was no mouth that I could see, just a smooth surface where its mouth should have been. As it moved, it made no sound—not even a crunch on the forest floor. It was like it was floating, gliding through the trees without disturbing anything in its path.
And then it looked at me. Or at least, I felt it looking. A wave of cold ran down my spine as those green eyes fixed on me, and for a moment, I couldn’t move. It didn’t make a sound, but the silence felt thick, like it was studying me, deciding if I was a threat. Just as quickly, it turned and melted back into the trees, disappearing without a trace.
I don’t know what it was, and I can’t find any record of anything like it. It’s as if this thing doesn’t exist outside of the moment I saw it. Whatever it was, it felt… ancient. Like it belonged to a part of the world that’s hidden from us, a world we aren’t meant to see. If anyone else has seen something like this, I’d like to know, because right now, I’m left with more questions than answers.
