Description:

The Bone Marrow Kiwi resembles an oversized kiwi bird but with unique and unsettling characteristics. Slightly larger than typical kiwis, this cryptid has elongated, powerful legs and a slender, pointed beak. Its plumage is darker and more textured than ordinary kiwis, with feathers that are dense and resemble a mix of fur and scales, aiding in its camouflage. Unlike its harmless cousin, the Bone Marrow Kiwi is rumored to feed on the bones of dead animals—and possibly humans—by extracting marrow with its specialized beak.

Habitat:

Dense, remote forests, particularly areas with rich undergrowth, abundant animal life, and secluded caves. The Bone Marrow Kiwi is believed to favor uninhabited areas with limited human presence.

Abilities:

The Bone Marrow Kiwi’s beak is specialized for breaking bones, allowing it to extract marrow from animal carcasses. This behavior is unique among birds and contributes to its unsettling reputation. Adapted for nocturnal hunting and scavenging, it has large, reflective eyes that help it navigate in the dark. Unlike most birds, it is believed to have a strong sense of smell, helping it locate recently deceased animals from significant distances.

Ways To Attract:

Some believe leaving animal bones or meat in a secluded forest area might attract the Bone Marrow Kiwi, but attempting to summon it is strongly discouraged due to its association with death and bad fortune in local legends. Observing at night from a distance in quiet surroundings may increase the chance of sighting it, though sightings remain exceedingly rare.
